Flood demolish farm products worth N500m and kills a 7 year old boy in Sokoto

On Friday , Farm produce worth over N500m was demolished by food in seven local government in Sokoto , said by The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Mr Thickman Tanimu the NEMA's Deputy Head, Sokoto Zonal Operations Office made known in an interview , in Umbutu village of Kebbe Local Government area, a 7 year old boy was killed when the wall collapse on him after a rainfall.

He also made notice that 7500 acres of farmland produce were destroyed and dozens of villages were under water. He made mention of the local government areas that were affected , Wamakko, Kware, Silame, Binji, Rabah, Wurno and Goronyo. These are the villages that were also affected Rafi, Marabawa, Dinbiso, Kagara, Gandi, Dundaye, Kwalkwalawa, Duhuwa-babba, Yar-tsakuwa and More.


The flood destroyed some houses including some roads in Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Bodinga, Binji and Gwadabawa.  According to him , the flood became worst when excess water was released from the dams (Goronyo and Bakolori dams).
