Nigerian sentence to life for murder in UK


Abdul Kekere-Ekun was sentence to life imprisonment for the murder for 28 year old man named Marcus Hall in 2001 by a court in United Kingdom. Mr Wilsom Uwujaren who is the Head of Media and Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes said on Monday that the guilty person killed Marcus Hall during a fight outside Lutons' Atmosphere Night club.

Mr. Wilson said that Mr Abdul a 39 year old who pleaded guilty flew to Nigeria to escape the sentence but was later caught by EFCC for fraud and was handed over to UK when they found out that he was wanted for murder in the UK.


The EFCC spokesperson said that Mr Abdul was handed over when the commission was served with an extradition notice by former Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN).

In addition to what he said " During investigation, it was revealed that Mr Abdul, who was arrested for fraud, was on the wanted list of the United Kingdom Police.

"Consequently, the hand over notice was signed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, was served on him by the EFCC ".


Mr Wilson said that earlier to the conviction of Mr Abdul, seven other member of the gang were convicted for murder in 2002. He also said two of the convicted members were later reversed.

Mr Abdul was identified on CCTV when the attack was carried out said Mr Wilson by the Bedfordshire Police.
